My ceaseless connection with God
Lesson 165: Let not my mind deny the thought of God.
For today’s idea to mean something to us—and it needs to mean something or our practice will be empty—we have to understand what is intended by “the thought of God.” What is the thought of God here and why should we care about it?
Paragraph 2 says “The thought of God created you” (2:1). This is another way of saying that God thought us into being. We are an idea in His Mind. This implies that He is still thinking us, still holding us in mind. Otherwise, we would cease to exist. You see that in this passage: “By it you live. It is your source of life” (2:4-5).
This can be an absolutely astonishing perspective, that God is maintaining my existence in thought right now. This is much more intimate than saying that He created me in the beginning. The beginning was a long time ago. A lot could have happened to my connection with Him between then and now. We could be hopelessly separated from each other. But if He is thinking me right now, then we still have the most intimate of connections.
